comment “Retiring” a maxed-out party
Additionally, the "Give up their XP" appeals to some groups - they feel that their characters have become too powerful, but are too attached to the character or party to retire them. Having an encounter that (literally or figuratively) strips levels/powers/XP from them, making them "mortal" again, to for sure finish the Big Bad is a viable option in some situations. I've used it two or three times to 'reset' the party to a lower level, or different system, but keep the party composition and characters.

comment How do I deal with a player who takes things personally?
+1 for the "kick the guy out until he grows up" strategy. I've had to kick one guy out of three different games of mine, with about a one year wait in between letting him back in each time. Fourth time was finally the charm. If he's a "good guy really" he wouldn't take his frustrations out on you in the middle of a game you're trying to run. This should be the last option you use, though - this sort of wake up either works or makes things worse.

comment How does sneak attack work for ranged rogues after surprise round?
Both of these systems do have feats - albeit third party feats - that open up the option of ranged flanking. Dragon #350 (pp90 iirc) gives you a 15' threat range, while the Pathfinder version nets you 30'. This could potentially allow you to flank more than one opponent at a time.

comment What systems contain Multiple Caster or Combined Casting rules?
@Nigralbus Indeed there are, pp129, "Group Rituals". The short is that "[It] is handled like any other action where characters combine their efforts...". This does not work for my system.

comment When exactly do “once each round” effects work?
@TimLymington - if you found a way to have that many actions in a round, yes. I don't see why you wouldn't damage both targets.

@KRyan - Then why would it have the bit about "(or any creature you grapple) on your turn"? If I grapple a creature with this spell effect on, does it not take damage the turn I initiate the grapple?
