It's a good answer (esp. that formula, ta kindly), but not a strictly helpful one. I've already adapted the other 'mechanics' of the encounter, but wanted to make sure that I hadn't messed up my probabilities - the encounter is (in my version) timed. Additionally, I never did find the adventure. If I ever do, I'll make sure to come back and post it for you!

@BrianBallsun-Stanton D6 Fantasy, specifically. I can't really... I thought I have a copy of the adventure lying around, but I have not been able to turn it up. I have a bot searching my computer for it (maybe I digitized it?), but so far no luck. If I find it, I'll edit the question with more detail, but for now assume that's as good as I can do.

+1 for the final paragraph ("You seem to be looking..."). Sometimes the RAW is just not good enough, and you have to edit and adjust to make things better.

comment Does Thunder Hooves Rage damage stack with itself?
@Keegan - I have never encountered a rule in any edition, especially 4e, that did not specifically state "Each time" (or some variant) when it was meant to work that way. However, I am quite open to being wrong - I will be the first to admit I am not as familiar with 4e as of late.

comment “Retiring” a maxed-out party
Additionally, the "Give up their XP" appeals to some groups - they feel that their characters have become too powerful, but are too attached to the character or party to retire them. Having an encounter that (literally or figuratively) strips levels/powers/XP from them, making them "mortal" again, to for sure finish the Big Bad is a viable option in some situations. I've used it two or three times to 'reset' the party to a lower level, or different system, but keep the party composition and characters.

comment How do I deal with a player who takes things personally?
+1 for the "kick the guy out until he grows up" strategy. I've had to kick one guy out of three different games of mine, with about a one year wait in between letting him back in each time. Fourth time was finally the charm. If he's a "good guy really" he wouldn't take his frustrations out on you in the middle of a game you're trying to run. This should be the last option you use, though - this sort of wake up either works or makes things worse.

comment How does sneak attack work for ranged rogues after surprise round?
Both of these systems do have feats - albeit third party feats - that open up the option of ranged flanking. Dragon #350 (pp90 iirc) gives you a 15' threat range, while the Pathfinder version nets you 30'. This could potentially allow you to flank more than one opponent at a time.

comment What systems contain Multiple Caster or Combined Casting rules?
@Nigralbus Indeed there are, pp129, "Group Rituals". The short is that "[It] is handled like any other action where characters combine their efforts...". This does not work for my system.
