Drop by and say hi :)

Taught on 3.0, learned 3.5. DMed 3.5 for many years and love it still.

Favorite variants: Spell points, prestigious character classes, sorceror metamagic specialist, racial paragon classes, cloistered cleric, paladin of freedom, complex skill checks, weapon groups, craft points and summon monster variants.

Anyone playing in my game knows: Think outside the box, fear the rakshasa, demons are never your friend and a party that can't find traps will more often than not die by them.

Favorite DnD aspects: Roleplay and character personality development, long spanning adventures that convey useful things (tree of life, chakras... meaning), inventiveness and ingenuity.

Method Actor You think that gaming is a form of creative expression. You may view rules as, at best, a necessary evil, preferring sessions where the dice never come out of the bag. You enjoy situations that test or deepen your character's personality traits.

@Garan in some situations that would make sense, you're right.

True, physics wouldn't change. I was thinking just meaner sinkholes, but increasing the die/multiplier for width and depth could accomplish most of the scaling at least. I like the idea of sticking nasties in there later.

More or less, yeah. Except it's not predetermined width or depth wise and it's all-over terrain. How to determine AoE? I did have certain sinkholes planned but I'm not sure how to get unplanned-ones accounted for. Having the depth be based on margin of failure? Also, the terrain map is massive: more than 36 square miles in an overland map. Preplanning each one seems an exercise in wasted DM prep. Your multiplier = distance fallen or surface area? I like that idea, as well as adding in extra risk for set amounts of weight. 100lbs seems a good cutoff to me. The PCs winning means they survive. +1

+1 especially on the part about improved multiattack. I recently made an advanced kraken and gave it improved multiattack once it's HD soared high enough. Then I re-examined it and went "hey wait a second..."

Not permanency-compatible spells, but spells that would still be lingering (ie. semi-permanent to permanent duration). Heh if that was the case I would have gotten it well before my brother found it at a yard sale :)

Sounds like you're more interested in what this car can't do. If you check the d20 Modern SRD you'll find that vehicles aren't all that scary. A lack of gas puts them on par with my bichon frise. What are you seeking to avoid? Overly powerful PCs? Ruined technological advancement? Please give us more to work with so we can help you with a clear, definitive answer and not just a discussion.

+1 I like what you're going for here. Have you read Heroes of Battle? There are grand sections of it addressing exactly what you are asking.
