comment Master of Shrouds Summon Undead caster level
@JeorMattan By the RAW, it looks like you simply can't use metaSLA feats on abilities that don't duplicate specific spells.

revised How to handle spell components in AD&D 1st edition
Fix typo. Although maybe rewording to avoid the game term would be better?

"Either make it a central concern of wizards, or dismiss it as something that's handled off-screen." -- And of course, you can do this on a spell by spell basis.

According to the FAQ you can tumble while charging; it cites the rules compendium (p27). (I don't have the RC to check directly.)

I went ahead and e-mailed the author of HPMOR with this question. If he gets back to me I'll post the response. (Unless he feels like posting it here directly!) However, I think he's a pretty busy guy, so perhaps this question will go forever unanswered.

comment How can I reward a character that doesn't want magic items?
Complete tangent: my first introduction to "they" as a gender-neutral pronoun was in the original AD&D books. :)

comment Why is Hand Crossbow regarded as Exotic Weapon in 3.5e?
"This also ties in with who the weapon is going to be used by: simple soldiers or highly trained assassins and thieves." -- Might be worth adding that, in fact, rogues get proficiency automatically. :)

@Gaxx If you contributed, you can already grab the magic tookit. (Not sure how long it's been available.)

comment Infinite wish combo using 3 items
Since this (a) doesn't work in AD&D and (b) does not require 3 items, it's presumably not what was referenced. (Assuming that it is a real reference.)

comment Where did the option to trade rolling for a minimal success first appear?
The similar option in D&D is "taking 10", which AFAIK predated Ubiquity. But if it was in the original (V:tM) Storyteller system, that would far predate the d20 mechanic.

comment Do touch spells crit via a natural weapon's crit range?
@KRyan Oh, after typing all that out, I thought to look in Complete Arcane, and it states this explicitly on p73, so there's a direct citation.

comment Do touch spells crit via a natural weapon's crit range?
@KRyan Reading it more closely, the spell isn't damage added to the weapon roll, it's a second effect triggered by the successful attack. Since you never actually make an attack with the spell, it cannot crit.

comment Do touch spells crit via a natural weapon's crit range?
@KRyan You can deliver them as per Holding the Charge here. The spell triggers but as an additional consequence of the attack, so it wouldn't benefit from any crit. (It's now "extra damage" rather than the base weapon.)

Might want to mention that, while you can (by holding the charge) deliver touch spells with an unarmed strike/natural attack, in such cases the damage from the spell isn't doubled on crits.

Heh, I was in fact tentatively planning to use Firefly as a starting point. ;)
