D&D Hall of Fame:

Singhi's 3.0 campaign - started at 1000 xp, vanished into nothingness at 2995 xp.
Paolo's 3.0 one-shot - too much DMPCing.
Luca's 3.0 campaign - started as a CoDM-PC, made a PC shortly after. Still no level ups.
My 3.0 campaign - aborted three rooms from the end.
Marco's 3.5 7-PCs-campaign - aborted for scheduling problems. Still no level ups.
Marco's intro to RttToEE - gave DMing right to me after 2 sessions. Arbitrary leveling up between those.
My 3.5 Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil. TPK'ed at level 8/9.
Marco's 3.5 all manuals campaign - aborted for excessive PC firepower. Guess what.
Marco's 3.5 random characters campaign - aborted after less than 10 minutes of play.
Pier's 4e Keep on the Shadowfell - gave DMing rights to me before I could level.
My 3.5 Expedition to the Demonweb Pits. - Completed!
My 3.0 City of the Spider Queen. - Completed!
My 4e Keep on the Shadowfell. - Completed! Kavu's 3.5 Daemonfey campaign
My 3.5 Expedition to Undermountain - aborted when we got a 4e group again

@SevenSidedDie do really DMs say "ok I want a tough encounter, let's add some HP"? I would rather cast a bear's endurance on the guy or find out other ways to add to his HP, while rolling (and accepting poor results) or using the mean HP. To me, choosing HP would be akin to cheating on my players. Anyway, choosing usually has all the similar monsters in the encounter get the same HP, isn't it?

Actually, the law of large numbers says that the more HD you add, the more it's probable that low and highs even up and the total HP is close to the mean. True, a 10 HD goblin could have 20 to 110 HP, but it'ss a bell curve and the probability of his HP being in the first 10th of the distribution is less than the 1/10 it was when he was first level.

comment “Slow” traps in the world of darkness
So your question is "how do I mechanically render a slow-moving, avoidable trap in this game?"

comment Does the “Wild” armor enhancement preserve both bonuses and penalties?
@MrLemon Bonuses are only "positive" modifiers, contrapposed to penalties, that are "negative" modifiers. I'm not sure MDex is even a modifier, but ACP is definitely not a bonus.

@Josh I would have used "the armor still cannot be seen, despite providing the bonuses".

comment How do GM Moves in Dungeon World work in practice?
I'm a long time D&D 3.x GM, usually running pre-made scenarioes. Since I have a pre-made environment, I almost never give opportunities fitting the PC's abilities, or offer opportunities with a cost, and I almost never tell them consequnces of their actions (they need to try and live with it) - I feel the list is aimed at those who didn't play in DW's style before: some DMs will find out they already play that way, some won't.

Necroposting is actually good on our format! You even gain a badge for it! No matter how old a question, this is a repository of questions with answers and if you got a good answer it's a very good thing to have people stumble on it while searching for answers to this question on google.

comment Are Maneuver Pre-Reqs like Feat Pre-Reqs?
Can you quote or link the level-up rules? I'm under the impression that "all class features are chosen in the same step" could as well mean they're all chosen at the same time, so one can't be a prereq for a different one.

@RobertF The Sunless Citadel is a 3.0e module and needs some converting.

comment How should I do unimportant crits?
The querent is not talking about automatic success. Your concerns are perfectly valid for that case, but it's not the only way to make that 20 more "special".

comment When transforming from a race using Polymorph any Object, what changes?
On the extra skill points: true, it's extraordinary and you lose it, but since the ability gives you points at every level up, you keep the ranks you've already spent.

comment How to effectively protect a VIP in the streets?
Is teleport too magical even for the attackers? If the atttackers can use every trick in the bag it's almost impossible to protect someone who can't protect himself in a 3.PF game. If they are limited, maybe there are solutions, but they depend on the limits.
