comment Do you retain the benefits of Vampirism after it has been lifted?
If you want to know about curses as well, I suggest making it a separate question. I chose to edit this to speak about vampirism (no curses) since your other question makes it clear this is the problem your group is facing right now. Of course you can also roll back my edit and ask about curses here.

vampirism is not a curse

@Nyakouai I noticed the disconnection between the so called "curse of vampirism" you might be used to thanks to narrative and the mechanical tag "curse" and I considered the former. As you might have noticed, I never once called it a curse in my answer, which still stands.

comment Is it possible to be cured of vampirism?
I have no idea if this is detailed somewhere in Pathfinder, but in my mind once a creature becomes a vampire it usually loses any sense of friendship, honor, goodness (they change alignmant to "any evil") and are usually portrayed as having a backstab-happy society (and I mean the kind of backstab they're not immune to). It is highly improbable that a vampire wants to be lifted of his "curse": he immediately realizes that he was burdened by emotions that stopped him from being so exquisitely evil. It is far more probable that the party starts directly from your point B2: they want to kill him.

no need to state all the things that vampirism isn't.

comment Choosing DnD 4th edition or Essentials for a new group and DM?
@Quenting, since Dvole is not familiar with 4e I guess they told him about class features, and he's using "skills" as a general word, rather than a technical one. "What my character can do". Well, there's still some customization (feats and some powers), but the choices are less than with core classes.

comment Is the spell Soul Shackles dysfunctional?
If it wasn't so hard to get the amulet back, I would give an amulet to all my servants, so that I can ask them what wrecked my dastardly plans.

comment How to use modifiers and checks
I have no idea which edition you're referencing to but, e.g. in 3.5, modifier is a generic term for "bonus or malus" (so Str modifier, ranging from -5 to +theskysthelimit). In 4e character sheets, the check column in the ability area is the special modifier used for ability checks
