Hrm. Perhaps I wasn't very clear. I think he's more interested in powers/flavorful mechanics that would enhance the phoenix's combat capabilities. He really wants to feel like his pet is "cool" (hence why I mentioned the twin-strike rework). For example, say the DM was going to give us a a +1 Flaming Weapon. Would it be so bad to "enchant" the phoenix's claws and let it use the daily?

I only mentioned twin strike to illustrate that the player is REALLY intent on his pet having an active roll, and that the DM is willing to make allowances to support this.

Whelp. That explains it. So, if I can only get one modifier from a feat, what is the best "bang for your buck"? I'm trying to optimize accuracy...

@DCShannon I'm interested for interests sake; I like knowing what kind of tools that players have at their disposal in general. That said, I don't see us restructuring our party any time soon. We're a pretty casual bunch.

Sorry to dredge this up, but I was reading about bull rush, and couldn't find anything (other than a fighter power) that mentioned knocking the target down. It's just a slide, isn't it?

This is solid advice. A lot our party is pretty new to the game, so readying an action was not something we thought about. Same with Bull Rush/knockdown.

Oh interesting. I was looking at the PHB and it said: Difficult Terrain: Because each square of difficult terrain costs 1 extra square to enter, you can’t normally shift into a square of difficult terrain, unless you’re able to shift multiple squares or you’re able to ignore the effects of difficult terrain.
