I'm an electrical engineering student with a computer science minor at the City College of New York. I do programming work for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, and do a fair amount of hobby-coding for web sites and computer game modifications.

comment Damage reduction and the number of damage sources
@SevenSidedDie Yeah, I saw that on a second look. I had thought it was a new addition in response to my comment and considered it good, but now that you mention it, I see it was there all along.

@user12010 No idea, but if you mean 3.0 strictly then you have tagged correctly. It's just that most of the time someone uses that tag, they actually meant 3.5 and got confused, since very few people play strictly 3.0.

@user12010 The dnd-3e tag covers 3.0 only; if you are playing 3.5 (you probably are), you should use dnd-3.5e

comment How does the Multi-Weapon Fighting feat 'replace' the Two-Weapon Fighting feat?
I honestly am not able to follow you. I do not know what position you are supporting or what evidence you are citing in defense of that position. You say "the first option" but your description leaves me unable to even be certain that your understanding of that first option is the same as mine.

I think the primary question is whether the Multiweapon Fighting feat counts as the Two-Weapon Fighting feat for things like requirements.

I have now read Worm, and am no longer disappointed in the least. Thank you for introducing me to it.

comment Can flanking become irrelevant due to creature sizes?
I think the need to reach the center of a space (effectively a limit of a single size category larger in most cases) is a little over-harsh. Rogues are shafted really hard by that rule. The rogue hiding in the huge beasty's blind spot and hitting a weak point is such a huge trope, and the combat presence of a rogue so tenuous as it is, that I wouldn't want to so dramatically increase the number of things that are hard to Sneak Attack.

comment Would the alignment of a character with multiple personality disorder change?
Dissociative identity disorder (formerly multiple personality disorder) is a complicated and contentious subject; there isn't even a lot of evidence that it exists at all, but assuming it does, it has nothing to do with schizophrenia, nor does it involve hallucinations or schizophrenic delusions.

comment Channelling Spells Through Implanted Ioun Stones
@SevenSidedDie Much better, that’s exactly what I hoped to see (aside from an answer that actually had an example of this being fleshed out). +2, as it were. I do think you are missing a major impetus for providing these kinds of things, though: it’s not just for rules-lawyer players, it’s also for the DM – for inspiration. Pretty cool idea, too, though I do wish they gave a better sense of where they were going with it.

As far as I can tell, this is an incomplete answer; it's not subjective, but you still need to "Back It Up!" as the BS/GS guidelines say. You assume Paizo never followed up that line, but have provided no evidence that this is the case. You just assume that the developers are using "RPG-book code-speak," which I grant they very well might be, but they also very well might not be (or might have been originally and then later added in more details in a supplement). A complete answer needs to at least establish how sure you are (e.g. where you looked and didn't find it).

I'm not sure I buy that specialization is so rewarded. After all, versatility is often the most highly-prized form of power in 3.x. Plus, generalizing from 3.x to RPGs in general is probably off -- I'm sure there are RPGs that reward jacks of all trades highly. That said, I think you have a point: you are best off planning along the lines of some specialty. This also illustrates why spellcasters are better off: they can specialize in something, putting their feats towards it, but still can cast all the spells and have plenty of opportunity to handle things their specialty can't.

comment If a multiclass character has two spellcasting classes how many spells do they get?
Neither "multiclass always good" nor "dips aplenty" are accurate statements about 3.5, particularly optimal 3.5, especially with spellcasters. An otherwise good answer, marred by a misstatement.

comment Do secondary natural attacks get the entire strength modifier on the attack roll?
Ultimately, example statblocks in 3.x are notoriously flaky. It’s not a bad idea to try to confirm your understanding that way, but you are somewhat liable to trip yourself up with a monster where the designer decided to fudge the numbers (or miscalculated himself, or something was changed in errata and people forgot to update the monster, or whatever)
