I'm an electrical engineering student with a computer science minor at the City College of New York. I do programming work for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, and do a fair amount of hobby-coding for web sites and computer game modifications.

@BraddSzonye please avoid demanding that a querent justify his or her question or why they would like an answer to it. That's rude, and just because the question they asked isn't the question you want to answer isn't a reason to be rude.

@Discord On the other hand, Ability Burn might be more appropriate – no one is going to be willing to let you burn their ability scores. But being able to offensively use Ability Burn makes it a rather-potent weapon; spell slots on top of that is just phenomenal.

comment Are there any spells that heal hit-points over time in Pathfinder or 3.5?
@DavidWilkins Yeah, vigor is a very good power, but not what you're looking for.

@Discord Ability damage would make the weapon more likely to actually be used offensively (as is, no one should ever actually attack an enemy with the staff), and would somewhat limit the abuse possible. But there are a lot of rather-efficient ways to heal ability damage too, including a version of Fast Healing but for ability damage (specifically, Naberius the Grinning Hound vestige in Tome of Magic). So ability damage helps, but not enough.

A useful and meaningful way to spend your actions? Or, for example, heal -- as a 6th-level spell, under your toughest suggestion it would cost 78 HP, and then heal a minimum of 110 HP (and provide a powerful restoration-type effect). You need a minimum of 20 HP/spell level for that. And mass heal would then cost 180 HP, but heal several creatures for a minimum of 170 HP. At CL 25, mass heal heals 250 to multiple creatures, meaning you're going to need a massive HP/spell level ratio to cover.

The cure spells are notoriously inefficient; they are not a great basis for comparison.

Probably worth noting that goliaths still have Powerful Build while not raging, since you mention half-giants.

comment How do I create a good fighter character that is focused on damage output?
So Pathfinder and D&D 4e are two almost-completely separate games. You won't be able to use the Monster Manual 2 from 4e for anything useful in Pathfinder, so put that away if your group is playing Pathfinder. The full rules for Pathfinder can be found on the “PFSRD” – here’s the section on Getting Started. It will help a great deal if your friends can help you get started, but reading that and about Character Creation should help.

A. you're almost certainly not going to get an e-mail; answers to questions belong here, on this site. B. you are going to need a ton more information in order to narrow down answers to something manageable. We need to know what edition of D&D you are using, and what exactly you expect your fighter character to actually do.

comment What exactly are Prestige classes, and what purpose do they serve?
@SevenSidedDie Regardless of opinions on that (not denying its RAW status), the answer is still fairly incomplete. It doesn't explain what they are, especially in contrast to base classes, or address the question of whether they are 'better' or what advantages and disadvantages they may have.

Hi, welcome to the site -- we do things a little differently than you may be used to. We are strictly a Q&A site, that is, you have to answer the question. Check out the Tour for more about who we are and how we operate. This doesn't exactly answer the question asked -- which specifies that he is a sorcerer -- and thus you should answer the question first, before suggesting something else. Please see this discussion for the accepted best practices for making such suggestions. And when you get 20 rep, feel free to join the Role-playing Games Chat!

(Uh, that said, I didn't downvote, and I think that's a little harsh. I suspect you'll find a better reception if you answer the question more completely, and maybe break up your wall of text there a little. But that said, we are really serious about being a Q&A site: you are supposed to answer the question as your primary responsibility. We're not here to discuss, as on a lot of forums, but to answer questions. I suggest checking out the Tour for more details on how we're a bit different from other sites you might be used to. Also, when you get 20 rep, feel free to discuss in Role-playing Games Chat!)
