I'm an electrical engineering student with a computer science minor at the City College of New York. I do programming work for the Metropolitan Transit Authority, and do a fair amount of hobby-coding for web sites and computer game modifications.

comment What does the Battle Cleric's Lore +2 shield bonus mean when I'm not proficient with shields?
This is really unclear on the primary point that a shield bonus is not the same thing as actually carrying around a shield.

comment What Prestige Classes advance caster level but do NOT require “casting spells”?
@Pro756 The book explicitly states that invocations are not spells and ability to cast invocations does not count as “ability to cast spells” for prestige classes (Complete Arcane, pg. 71). Shadowcaster mysteries, on the other hand, explicitly do count as spells, but not as arcane or divine spells (Tome of Magic, pg. 117).

comment What happens to a ranger when her alignment changes to CN in 3.5?
@DM911 “Religion: Though a ranger gains his divine spells from the power of nature, he like anyone else may worship a chosen deity,” Player’s Handbook, p46. All alignments can be natural, and ranger spellcasting explicitly comes from nature, not gods. Their skill with magic is no different from their skill with tracks or with communicating with animals: it comes solely from their familiarity with nature. So we can’t tell you what’s supposed to happen in your world when you change things; that’s up to you. I again strongly recommend against the path you imply you’re looking for.

@Makyen Claw attacks are always natural attacks; it does not need to say that. Moreover, the phrase “primary attack” is used nowhere else in the rules, and can only be referring to natural attacks. You would have to demonstrate that effects that add natural weapons usually use the term natural attack, rather than allowing the type of natural attack to imply that. A quick search shows this is not the case, however; no creature labels their natural attacks as such, they just use the terms for specific kinds of natural attacks. That includes templates that add natural attacks.

@Muz Sure, but a stubborn do-gooder doesn’t have to be a stick in the mud.

@Makyen They are generally primary, yes. When you combine them with manufactured weapon attacks, however, they are treated as secondary even though they are primary. To avoid that, the beast claws rage power would have to explicitly say that it was overriding that rule. It does not.

comment It is possible to make Vampires, Night-Elves and Warforged to play along?
Normally, I'd say this sort of thing is a fairly bad idea (because of systemic incompatibilities), but as a one-shot with pre-established characters for a special occasion, this sounds pretty awesome.

@Flotolk See Paul Marshall's comment here: the +11 version would be spiked armor +11, spiked armor +6, spiked armor +1, claw +6, claw +6.
