I've been involved in one aspect or another of the adventure games hobby for the past twenty-five years. Started playing in 1987. (First game? Champions, followed by CyberSpace, the Iron Crown cyberpunk game for Space Master, their sci-fi Rolemaster spin-off.) Was hired by InQuest Magazine in 1996, where I started my editorial career. Since then, I've done work for Green Ronin, Malhavoc Press, Dream Pod 9, and White Wolf. I managed two different game stores in the metro Boston area in the 2000s, and am now working primarily freelance. Still gaming after all these years.

I have a weakness for good coffee and bad puns.

You're right about how resisted rolls work, although you should probably roll on behalf of the Demon so the player doesn't need to dice off against himself. Since I don't have a proper answer about your main question, I figured I'd leave this is a comment and let you edit the question accordingly. And welcome to the site!

Fair enough. My thinking is that if this narrative element is going to be important enough to develop or adapt a mechanic to handle it, it should have the teeth needed to enforce that importance. This is balanced by the fact that teaching someone to communicate with you is less dangerous to them and to you, generally, than setting a shattered leg or easing someone through trauma. It'll be risky for a while, but the recovery actions will take it to Moderate and then Mild in relatively short order. I think the warning is valid, and the comment helpful.

@IgneusJotunn It seems like "starting at a disadvantage" is something they want to do. Since they're open to it being resolved in a single session, I could see lowering it to Moderate. But it's mainly going to hurt in situations where the opposition knows they can't communicate effectively and can take advantage of it; it's more about the stress of not being able to be understood.

revised How do you run a campaign of Dinosaur Planet: Broncosaurus Rex?
Because the question in the title was rhetorical, and this might stay open a little longer.

comment Can Fleeting Spring 5 force a changeling to break her Motley Pledge?
Not especially. These are mythic promises and faerie-tale contracts, and all technicalities count. If you harbor the desire to kill your motley mate, and someone uses that desire to get you to try and kill them, that's the way it goes. As for "do you have a choice"? Well, that depends. The power is an extended contest where the attacker needs to accumulate a number of net successes equal to the defender's Willpower. Spend WP, boost that roll, and get the hell out of that situation before the Contract succeeds. That's your "choice." Once it's complete, though, you do as your desire commands.
