I write computer software for a living, mostly in Perl. I give away lots of it. Share and enjoy!
In my spare time, I tell my daughter stories about Batman, read books, watch movies, play video games, and try desperately to play D&D even though nobody I know wants to.

How does damage outside of combat work in Carcosa? It does seem like a straightforward way to do things, but it makes it extremely difficult, that way, to nickel-and-dime somebody out of his or her hit points. (This may be intentional.) It also seems like it would add a lot of overhead to otherwise very simple dice transactions. (This seems unlikely to be intentional, but Carcosa sure does love diceā¦) |

Is there a trick to learning the Pacesetter/Goblinoid Action Table? Thanks very much for the answer! I should note that it's not just the one action table, which I could probably deal with. I'd print it and laminate it or something. It's also that every skill seems to explain on its own what LMHC mean. I suppose that if you can memorize the order or meaning of LMHC (large, medium, high, colossal) you can fake everything but combat, which is spelled out on the one page... |

How do you plan Savage Worlds combats based on PC ability? I am all for unbalanced encounters, but my intent was not to find out how to balance them. (Combat is war!) It was about how to plan. I can look at stats for many games and tell what a stand-up fight will be like. I can know "this area is safe for the PCs, so if they go adventuring here, they might live, so I need more data; this area is super deadly, if they go here, they will die." In SW, I could not predict this, which was an inconvenience for planning. This was a very mechanics-related question. |
