What tools are useful to organize a GM's campaign notes? My intent was just organization in general. That could include planning a session, recapping a session, taking notes during a session, and making it all gel well enough that when it comes time to plan the next session, I can easily see which plot threads are moving and what could be going on. Basically how to keep track of an entire world... that's all. |

What is the optimal way to design a well balanced party I totally agree with you Danny. Let the players play the classes they want to play rather than shoe-horning one of them into a class that is "needed" but nobody wants to play. No healer? Make healing potions more available. The DM can always adjust the campaign to fit the party so everyone has fun. |

How to quickly plan a fun one-off session? I'm not a great on-the-fly guy, but this makes it sound very do-able. Thanks for a great answer. |

How to quickly plan a fun one-off session? I tend to be too picky on character creation. For a one shot adventure, I really like your thoughts on character builder auto-gen characters. |

Where's my share of the loot? @Pulsehead: I think it comes from having 4 kids. Sometimes, you just have to teach them it's not worth it :) |

Status Markers for Miniatures Games yeah, I think I'm going to head to the local hobby shop and buy some shrink paper so I can make some for my game this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. |

Status Markers for Miniatures Games Some great links here. If you like the Dapper Devil kind of stuff, it seems like you could use some shrink paper ( amzn.to/bCmSua ) and create your own. You could use scrabble trays for holding them for each player character. |

How does character movement translate to real-world speed? If you think that many of those characters are carrying 50 lbs of gear, suddenly 9mph doesn't seem that slow to me. |

How do I manage created content in D&D Character Builder I've used that to add powers to my characters from another class, but how does it work for custom feats? I'm assuming they don't have an api or scripting support that allows you to actually make your custom feat add a bonus to your attack powers or anything like that. |

What qualities are important when creating a fantasy RPG campaign? Good points. I've seen that difficulty with newer players just recently. Do you have them write down three sentences at the beginning of each session, or only at the start of the campaign? I think I'm going to steal that idea. Have them start with three, and then at the beginning of every session have them give me one more and let them accumulate into a richer history. |

Experience for Role Playing I can't take full credit for this idea. I got it from someone on Johnn Four's gmmastery mailing list 5-6 years ago. |

How do current D&D 4e DMs deal with loot? upgrading based on use. Something you see all the time in computer games, but for some reason I never thought of doing in my tabletop game. |
