How can I run games in Shadowrun, without going overboard? The game mechanics don't really support invulnerability a la AD&D. Even an incredibly high-end runner team isn't going to take down anything large and well-protected like a gang or corporation of significant size without an immense amount of planning and preparation and a good deal of luck. |

Earthdawn: What are Barsaive's jungles like? @OpaCitiZen - Try to look for pictures of disturbed rainforest or interface zones. Because they have more light, they're usually much more dense like the Barsaive rainforest is supposed to be like. |

Character build for Gandalf in D&D3.5? @Flamma - Yes, which is why "Wizard is a drastically better fit thematically." Sorcerers don't have longsword proficiency, but Gandalf does; choosing bard to get longsword makes more sense than choosing sorcerer because magic is intrinsic (since all magic in Middle Earth is intrinsic that doesn't really narrow it down much). |

Character build for Gandalf in D&D3.5? Strongly disagree about Sorcerer. When outside the Doors of Moria (p. 400 Fellowship of the Ring): "I once knew every spell in all the tongues of Elves or Men or Orcs, that was ever used for such a purpose. I can still remember ten score of them without searching in my mind." Wizard is a drastically better fit thematically. |

Low-random, low-dice fantasy rpg system @Rob - The OP didn't ask for "low dice" but "not too many rolls to resolve conflict". SR does an okay job with that, or at least gives a lot of richness per roll. I'm assuming that picking up a small handful of dice instead of rolling a d20 and then 2d6 is not the major concern here. |

Do Technomancers need a commlink? @GMJoe - Agreed, though you can pick up various other things (presence of cyberware, for instance) that are not overtly magical. It adds to the "technomancy is magical" evidence, however. |

Do Technomancers need a commlink? I feel compelled to note that this "brain detects radio waves" thing was rather loudly protested when it first came out as making no sense physically. My conclusion, since they stuck with it, is that this is an unqualifiedly magical ability, since it's biologically essentially impossible. |

Can a mage Assense a Technomancer? Not exactly an answer, but I had a whole spectrum of Assensing-like abilities that would let you get increasingly sophisticated views of the properties of living creatures. In that framework, no, Assensing itself would be too crude (but a more advanced ability would do the trick). But maybe someone has canonical information? |
