3d6 vs a d20: What is the effect of a different probability curve? @Pureferret - Glad you found it useful. It probably has few votes in part because it was a late answer--the question was asked in Sept. 2010, and I didn't notice it and write an answer until over 6 months later. |

What is the SURGE event in Shadowrun? @TygerKrash - Those predated SURGE; that was just fleshing out the variation that was supposedly already there (though you wouldn't have known it before the Companion). |

How to make magic items more interesting? Changed bold to italics. I don't like italics. Also fixed a typo. |

How do I allow player agency in situations with predetermined outcomes? +1 - This is absolutely the best way to go, especially as 7-sided describes it. You don't want to be falsely accused and convicted because of a lackluster defense--what a lousy background! If that's true, it shouldn't be played. No, it should be dramatic. If the players get too close to making it impossible to lose the defense, the judge should throw up procedural roadblocks--improper admission of evidence, prosecutor questioning the motives of witnesses, etc.; there can be personal relationships, police who don't like their integrity questioned, etc.. So many opportunities for resentment! |
