Food. Lots of food. Especially carbs and protein. Dumplings in chicken broth work best. Favored by sumo wrestlers. :D

comment How to handle a fair contest between PCs in Apocalypse World?
I tend to think that acting first and triggering the first move are different things in AW. Triggering the first move is not a direct advantage because it also brings risk of failure, which means that the player rolling the move could get hurt as a result. Maybe you could implicitly make sure that's the case as MC, so that triggering the first move becomes a strategic decision rather than a sure way of winning the duel.

@Lohoris, moves in *World games are story drivers, not situation simulators. These moves don't measure the ability of characters. They just randomize story twists. What you do afterwards with the new direction is the interesting part mostly.

:) Sorry if it sounded offensive. Blame it on the meaning of the m-word in my native language in which I think

Well, I have a conviction that the new generation of game systems like Fate and *World are for players with a bit more mature understanding of RPG's :) yöu may have to wait for some of your players to grow into it.

@Seven I suspected griefing when I saw both answers here being downvoted simultaneously. But you're right, that's not evidence, just suspicion.

comment What is the maximum altitude an Aerodyne can fly?
I went through Maximum Metal, Solo of Fortune and CP2020, no info on service ceiling there. But you can assume that these things can fly much higher than any urban landscape. Your players should worry about the duration of the hover, not the altitude.

@seven, actually, if you can come up with a power source to keep a turbine spinning for long enough, it looks very well possible to use the atmosphere itself for delta-v mass.

There's only one thing that is actually certified to fly today in that list, the PAL-V. And it flies as a gyrocopter, not as an aerodyne.

comment What approaches are there to lessen or eliminate reliance upon dice in an RPG?
Thanks @Julix. I assumed that the need for eliminating dice came from the idea of reducing roll-playing in favor of role playing and storytelling. I had this system in mind for a while and I just used the question as an excuse to write it down. Wondering if anyone tried this or something similar after 3+ years :)

This sounds like a too-broad list/opinion/discussion question. Can you narrow it down a bit?

comment How to communicate to the players that an encounter can be solved also through diplomacy?
They may even win by their sword, but it sure is costlier than talking it out. Just make sure that cost is quite significant, whatever that may mean.

comment Understanding aspects in combat
Check out the last sentence in this chapter, "any player can propose a compel on his or her own character for free", which is, they ask for it, not do it themselves. More like, "Hey GM, I have this blinded aspect on me, so why don't you gimme a fate point and I'll spend this exchange just bonking around instead of trying to get rid of the darkmantle.", where the GM may reply "yeah, cool here's your FP", or "nope, just do what you will".
