comment What approaches are there to lessen or eliminate reliance upon dice in an RPG?
Thanks @Julix. I assumed that the need for eliminating dice came from the idea of reducing roll-playing in favor of role playing and storytelling. I had this system in mind for a while and I just used the question as an excuse to write it down. Wondering if anyone tried this or something similar after 3+ years :)

comment What are the most common design problems found in games based in levels and classes?
This sounds like a too-broad list/opinion/discussion question. Can you narrow it down a bit?

comment How to communicate to the players that an encounter can be solved also through diplomacy?
They may even win by their sword, but it sure is costlier than talking it out. Just make sure that cost is quite significant, whatever that may mean.

Here's a nice inspiration approach that may work: Infantry well-equipped enough to deal with mecha: youtube.com/watch?v=caiIamHIzBY

comment Understanding aspects in combat
Check out the last sentence in this chapter, "any player can propose a compel on his or her own character for free", which is, they ask for it, not do it themselves. More like, "Hey GM, I have this blinded aspect on me, so why don't you gimme a fate point and I'll spend this exchange just bonking around instead of trying to get rid of the darkmantle.", where the GM may reply "yeah, cool here's your FP", or "nope, just do what you will".

@BESW that's the Dresden take on blocks. May be different elsewhere.

@SevenSidedDie, the ones I have understand that something is wrong when I don't reject any of their optimizations :)

comment Playing Fate with competitive players
@Dakeyras, character optimization is already a futile endeavor in Fate. It's in how you play, not how you make them.

comment Weapon/Armor Ratings vs NPCs using the Teamwork/Mobs rule
You know, it would be perfectly legit for you to ask the question and add four separate answers. The way it is, answers to the question will mostly be discussion of your different interpretations, ie. not good.

comment Converting Command skill from Rogue Trader to Fate Core
I usually try to keep things flexible as long as a sensible explanation can be made. Maybe command is no good for tactics or strategy, but helps with the execution of such plans.

I was the GM, and I ended up nerfing it as well. Too much for too cheap otherwise.

comment Cyberpunk 2020 Reflex question
Yeah, the new artwork sucks. There was no mention of "initiative only" for boosterware in the original edition, so we had assumed that to be a reflex booster.

comment What is the threshold strength of the sunrise?
If you choose to represent it mechanically, it should be strongest at the equator and weakest at the poles. I'd say Good(+3) between the tropics, Fair(+2) to Average(+1) in the temperate zones depending on the season, and Mediocre(±0) beyond the polar circles.

comment Adjusting aspects based on attendance
I'd agree that having characters share history is an important part of Fate, but that doesn't actually mean the aspects have to be addressed to those specific characters. They should somehow relate to them, but be broad enough to cover more than a specific character.

comment Shame him into not shooting: multiple stress tracks in a single conflict
I think the phrase "taken out" is the culprit in this. Although the phrase sounds like that, it does not mean that the target is knocked out cold or disabled in any other way. It just means that you get to tell the story about the target if you take it out.

Not that I know very well but aren't some blocks persistent?
