comment Which significant games quantify personality traits?
@HeyICanChan Yeah, that occurred to me. The rest of the character traits in C+ are dials, so the system rang true for me on assigning values to abstractions. Unfortunately in this specific case the personality elements are handled differently than everything else in the system. Having said that, Cortex+ is all about hacking the mechanics. There's no reason you couldn't assign a die to your Distinctions for use in the positive cases instead of just taking a flat d8.

comment Which significant games quantify personality traits?
@gomad I didn't include those because the Values aren't character specific, they're setting values, like traditional D&D Strength, Intelligence, etc. I suppose once you combine them with a relationship they're a bit more tailored, but I interpreted the OP as looking for character-specific personality qualities. And the use of Distinctions is consistent across C+ Action, Drama, and Heroic.

comment Does Darkness cast a shadow?
It could be argued that the light doesn't illuminate the interior or anything within it, hence no shadows. The light passes though that area unimpeded, with no interaction or loss.

comment How can we fish an indestructible item out of lava?
I think I'd be more concerned about the fact that I'm a lot cooler than lava, and lava hardens when cooled. Ever stick your hand in melted candle wax? I suspect that as the lava around you rapidly hardens into a rocky shell, swimming will become problematic...

comment How do you encourage group decisions over individual actions?
And depending on the situation and the system, if Player 1's actions required a move, since you've moved into a melee paradigm between the two, Player 2 might get to employ whatever Attack of Opportunity rules you have to stop Player 1's movement and force them to engage Player 2 first...
