What happened to scrolls in 4e? Rituals can be very useful, and I'd recommend your players check them out. Mine make quite a bit of use out of informational rituals like divinations and Comprehend Languages. Tenser's Floating Disk has been used in clever ways, and Sending is vital for any campaign which calls for long-distance communication. |

What can a player do to force down a flying creature? Make sure you're not just focusing on items and powers. You can always use a roleplaying-based approach to taunt or trick the enemy, or take advantage of the environment. Getting under cover is a trivial example that forces the enemy to get closer or abandon the fight. |

Why do Weapon Mastery feats have the requirements they do? I ran into a situation where a PC didn't have the prereq for a feat she really wanted. I let her retrain her base attribute choices slightly. It didn't change anything important to her character. Of course, she was only one point short; a wizard with Wis 9 who wants Expertise wouldn't be able to use this method. |

Can group skill checks only be tried once? @waxeagle: I've found that in most skill challenges it helps with engagement to go around the table and include each player, requiring them to take some action in the challenge. I don't have them roll initiative, but requiring action prevents having the more diplomatic characters left bored during an environmental challenge and vice versa. tldr; I find that total involvement is always an issue. |

Are there speed limits on thrown objects in D&D? IANAPhysicist, but as long as we're splitting hairs I understand that the heat experienced at high speeds in atmosphere comes not from friction but from the compression of air in front of the traveler. |

Combat encounters, non-combat encounters, and non-encounters in D&D 4e Note that not all non-combat encounters have to be skill challenges. You might have a scene that doesn't fit the skill challenge mold, but still involves conflict and interesting consequences. An example is an exploration and trap-avoiding scene. I'd count such combats as encounters, especially for the purpose of assigning XP and milestones. |

What is the probability for a thousand with 3 D10 Note that each instance of doubles or triples has an equal 0.1% chance of occurring, but the chance of getting ANY double or triple (when you don't care which one you get) is higher: 1% for triples and something like 31% for doubles if I didn't mess up the math. |

Do implement attacks made through a weapon get the weapon's proficiency bonus? This makes sense since weapon powers tend to attack AC and implement powers tend to attack other defenses. AC is usually about 2 or 3 points higher than non-AC defenses, so the attack chances line up. |
