I'm mostly on RPG.stackexchange.com, but also check Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Stackoverflow. I'm currently GMing and/or playing OD&D, AD&D 2e and Stars Without Number campaigns. I use C# (in Unity3d) and Python when writing code.

How to deal with a DM who is biased against a player? Your question is closed at the moment. However, if you edit it to be more objective, it may be re-opened. Also, don't take this as a lack of support - it simply means that it doesn't fit our guidelines at the moment, so we can't answer it well. |

Murder mystery and high fantasy magic - how to make it work? This kind of defeats the purpose of a magic setting, but the murder could take place in a dead-magic zone. On the other hand, a magical murder in a dead-magic zone is a very good mystery! |

How many enemies can one Lvl 1 PC handle? @GatesVP To 2 d.p., it's 0.10, but with 3 d.p. it's 0.096. I'm doing Stats at the moment. |

How many enemies can one Lvl 1 PC handle? @TimLymington "how to keep an unsupported level 1 character alive long enough to draw conclusions" is one of the reasons that setting up advantageous situations is useful. |

Is there any reason to discourage “arms racing” during exchanges? @wraith808 Actually, the fate tag applies to all forms of FATE - read the tag description. I'm rolling it back. |

How many enemies can one Lvl 1 PC handle? The probability of a crit on the sorcerer in one round is not 4 x 2.5%, it's actually 1 - (0.975^4). This has to do with the possibility of a doublecrit, the sorcerer dying, etc. |

How many enemies can one Lvl 1 PC handle? @TimLymington The players won't necessarily be able to notice they're doing well until later, when (assuming they haven't realised that the tactics they used earlier were good) they may be doing less well. At which point they'll consider, 'what was it that made me stronger then?' and hopefully, with some DM guidance, use clever tactics instead of "I attack until it's dead". |

Do the Bracers of the Merciful Knight also affect the ability to channel positive energy? Also, if you really prefer it the other way, you can simply houserule it. |

How many enemies can one Lvl 1 PC handle? @DMSerph Not necessarily, although that's an option. I think it's a good way to show how important tactics are and what a class' strengths are. The player should notice that they are doing better than average against a challenge, so they will hopefully use tactics again in the future. Also, if you give them a battle in which they have an advantage, they are less likely to die if you accidentally make it too hard :) |

Does fighting count as a single service for spirits? @JonathanHobbs Yes, as that is still its active service that hasn't been completed yet |

Can a DM disallow the Candle of Invocation exploit using RAW? @Shadur Because I wanted to check I wasn't missing some RAW that blocks part (or all) of the exploit. |

Can a DM disallow the Candle of Invocation exploit using RAW? Excellent point about using in-game systems to punish players who abuse the rules. |

AD&D 2nd ed Cleric/Thieves weapon proficiency Sorry, I keep conflating 'Cleric' and 'Priest', due to the spheres system and the various options/changes available. However, I'm sure you can be a normal cleric and have, as a God, someone who allows non-blunt weapons. |

What are the literary influences of the D&D Bard? In 2e, there's a Complete Book of [Every Class], including Bards. There's some options for dwarves, elves, and gnomes to be bards there. However, it's mostly other bard-like tropes that are introduced instead of the 'classic' bard. |

How can I create a Prisoner's Dilemma-style choice in Paranoia? +1 If I do the iterative Prisoner's Dilemma, I'll be using an undefined number of iterations, as otherwise the logical option is to betray in all cases. |

How can I create a Prisoner's Dilemma-style choice in Paranoia? I like it! It's simple, clean and easy to implement. However, I think to make it perfect, the penalty for the players should be lower if they both betray each other. |

Can anyone teach a new player to play Pathfinder? Hi and welcome to the site. Sadly, this question is not likely to remain open as it is too broad in its scope (see the faq). I suggest you read the books, learn the system and then post any specific questions you have here. |

What alternatives are there to replace orcs, kobolds, and hobgoblins in low-level encounters? +1 for arm bandits with clubs. In some editions, clubs are free, meaning they're the ultimate weapon for poor/cheap forces, but still pack a punch and can be thrown. Also, a classic example of a single creature of higher level as a challenge is a Carrion Crawler, imo |
