comment How would one create a bag of coin-changing?
I wrote up a custom 0-level spell for my D&D 3.5 campaign that converted coinage in the 10:1 ratio (adding no market value). If you grant that coins really do follow the 10:1 ratio, you almost have to assume such magic exists to maintain that ratio.

I believe that the description mentions the light surging down the blade into the target...

comment How would I make custom items into a set?
I suggest that the best answer would be one that analyzes what the authors of the Magic Item Compendium did for their sets. For example, take a set, calculate the value of the items individually, compare to the listed per-item costs, and evaluate the difference against the set bonuses.

comment Is there a layer of the Abyss that is controlled by celestials?
My previous comment here is clearly answered by @Draupadi. What I was really trying to ask is whether a Chaotic Evil Fallen Archon is still a Celestial. In my mind, "celestial" is pretty much defined as a "Good Outsider" from the outer planes. As such, a Chaotic Evil outsider ceases to be a celestial. But I might have my definition wrong.

So, just to be 100% clear, the Fallen Archons are not actually Good, correct?

Gah! I was just about to submit the same answer. Average healing is 28.5 hp per potion.

comment First Assassin Contract?
Also, I'd bet there's more to this story. Is this a game about assassinating folks? Or did your characters go off to do some murder-for-hire instead of rescuing the villagers held hostage by the giants?

Try asking a new question that gives a specific question about playing an RPG. If you are asking about how to discuss the game with your DM (gamemaster), say so. If you want tactical suggestions for how your characters might proceed, provide details about the system and the strengths of your characters.

@AsIf I can see how badly I communicated my question in the first version. I'd like to think that my game is generally engaging for my players, which involves three-dimensional NPCs, group dynamics, and conflicts at various levels. This often involves creating detail as the PCs look closer at someone or something. I should have made these assumptions clear. I was specifically looking at making the group as a group engaging.

I'm thinking about what I feel like I need to do with "all" of them. I think part of what I want to figure out now are the outliers in the horde so I can answer when the players about any members that stand out, as well as figuring out how the horde responds to events. So, for example, whether there are healers or magic users or rogues to handle injuries or enchantments or locks.
