I have been gaming, role-playing, miniatures and table top board, since 1977. Not as old as some but older than most. I pretty much play anything, D&D has always been my favorite RPG. I have a pretty good sized collection of materials and games and am always adding to it.

I hope to share my love of the game and passion for my hobby with everyone here.

Geesh, does this sound cheesy, but it is true. So there you are.

Sure; moving water, slide/running down hills or stairs, swinging from a rope or light, jumping down a short cliff or wall. The list is only limited to your imagination. Use temporary shift bonuses or speed bonuses (ex. beginning of next turn) just like you would temprorary penalties. This really forces the characters to begin taking terrain way more seriously especially if your monster use it first.

comment How do I resolve the conflict between realism and uniqueness when designing campaigns?
I have learned that in gamemastering 101 it is never about what you "design", but instead it is about what you hear. In a recent 4e dungeon I had only moderate preperation and vague connection of the adventure to it's surroundings. The party in two nights f play discovered/created a fantastic story that fit the adventure and its surroundings so elegantly that it will have at least more adventures in the future, both using the same dungeon!

Yep, great point, but every game I've encountered has the conflict - solution - execution model embedded in it somewhere. The enviornment and method of execution differs from system to system, but the base mechanic is always the same.

I thought about that, and it could go either way I think. If it is too much like 'magic' drop those classes or weaken them.
