I have been gaming, role-playing, miniatures and table top board, since 1977. Not as old as some but older than most. I pretty much play anything, D&D has always been my favorite RPG. I have a pretty good sized collection of materials and games and am always adding to it.
I hope to share my love of the game and passion for my hobby with everyone here.
Geesh, does this sound cheesy, but it is true. So there you are.

What is the cost for the upkeep of gear? The Percentage formula is a "house rule" or rule of thumb that I have encountered in the real world over the years. As the for the barter portion, that is strictly real-life. No house rule needed, just goo old fashioned role-playing. |

How do I make and use tactically interesting terrain? Sure; moving water, slide/running down hills or stairs, swinging from a rope or light, jumping down a short cliff or wall. The list is only limited to your imagination. Use temporary shift bonuses or speed bonuses (ex. beginning of next turn) just like you would temprorary penalties. This really forces the characters to begin taking terrain way more seriously especially if your monster use it first. |

Overcoming realism and uniqueness block I have learned that in gamemastering 101 it is never about what you "design", but instead it is about what you hear. In a recent 4e dungeon I had only moderate preperation and vague connection of the adventure to it's surroundings. The party in two nights f play discovered/created a fantastic story that fit the adventure and its surroundings so elegantly that it will have at least more adventures in the future, both using the same dungeon! |

How to get back into gaming? Yep, great point, but every game I've encountered has the conflict - solution - execution model embedded in it somewhere. The enviornment and method of execution differs from system to system, but the base mechanic is always the same. |

Are there any low-magic 4e home-brew settings? I thought about that, and it could go either way I think. If it is too much like 'magic' drop those classes or weaken them. |

How do I re-use a module? Exactly, and it is fast to use. |

Is there a searchable index for WotC images published in Dragon/Dungeon magazine? Absolutely. You have given me an idea to think on. |

What does Deep Speech look/sound like? Could be. The idea is since there is no definative guidline, make it a group story telling experience. This also helps lift some of the DMs work load too! Bonus! |

Is there a way to make the damage system in 4e more like previous editions? mmmm, good point. |

Is there a way to make the damage system in 4e more like previous editions? Hmmmm, I think I would add the caveat that only divine powers characters would fall under the magical affect and be able to heal this carry over damage. |

How do I make a dungeon the party will not know they are getting lost in? Ooooh. tesseracts! I did one years ago, when it came out in the Dragon and had completely forgot about that. Such fond memories... |

How do I make a dungeon the party will not know they are getting lost in? This is true, use extreme moderation with this one or it turns into another remake of that no-win horror movie. |

What are the rules for forced movement into and out of water and flying? You are correct, I updated. Number 2 is sort of a mixed question and confused me. |

What are the core tropes or assumptions of D&D? Yep. I do like the complete access to everything with the search... but I miss the intimate knowledge I had in 0e and 1e with the rules. I could quote you nearly verbatim from every book. |

What are the core tropes or assumptions of D&D? Being 50, I'm with you. Using the CB tool, I made a 4th level party of 5 characters in 15 minutes, including printing. Scary. The tools take away the need to be immersed in the rules for many younger players and they tend to fall into a dependence on it. |

Item slots for mounts Yep, that is it in a nut shell. As for over balancing, a mount is not usually used in crawl so having something that is more powerful than usual might not be too much of an issue. |

Narrativist Gaming: How do you transition more traditionally-trained players into them? A thought... Try this for 30 minutes using your current campaign and characters and then move to the table with the dice. This would be less threatening and add the cooperative story telling dimension you are looking for. Do this a few times and see if you have success. |

Narrativist Gaming: How do you transition more traditionally-trained players into them? True - They may say that. At that point you have a decision to make. Fight for it or drop it. That is the reality of fear. Sometimes you can not over come it. I wish there here a golden answer, but there is not for something like this. |

Narrativist Gaming: How do you transition more traditionally-trained players into them? I agree, back story is not the solution to the problem stated in the question. The problem is non-participation and resistance. Both of these are fear based responses. You need to address the fear first then the story telling will take care of itself. |

How to run a chess inspired D&D4E encounter? Could go any number of ways. Could be a skill challenge with their primary skill or maybe a minion (one hit wonder). If they lose they are out. Maybe the minion has a 'knockout' (stun, held, dominated, unconscious, etc..) type power. Have fun with it. |
