What GM tasks can be delegated to players to speed up encounters? That's an interesting approach, but it seems like it would be brutal on the DM. If you have 5 monsters and 5 players, the monsters will still all be calculated in serial... It might be interested to see how this works with a DM assistant that could do some of the attacking. Also, how do you work moving, does everyone move minis at once, or do you just do abstract short/mid/long range combat and forgo tactical (which would make this tough to implement in 4e) |

Can you use a mirror to get line of sight? While a Magic Missile might not bounce off a mirror, it would easily be expected to make a 180 degree turn around a barrier. |

What's the maximum number of minions for an encounter? I was thinking that. Given the right circumstances, a single mage could take on pretty much an infinite number of very high-level minions using a guaranteed hit attack. A few that come to mind available to first level mages would be flaming sphere and wall of daggers, either can make a narrow hallway impassible to minions and the flaming sphere can be maintained from an angle such that most (all?) minions could never get an attack in without taking the damage--the minor sustain means it wouldn't even limit his ability to respond to non-minions. |

What are the most important differences for a 1st Edition AD&D Dungeon Master learning to run D&D 4E? Great answer. I would add Keywords. The first edition did not rely on keywords at all. When moving to 4e pay attention to keywords, they convey a lot more information than just reading would intuitively provide--they use it to pack a lot of information into a small space. |

How can I make monster knowledge checks fun? This seems really wrong, especially in the context of 4E. You absolutely cannot assign features to monsters through an informational check, it simply finds out info about monsters. In fact, you'd have to roll pretty well just to find out that a monster has an existing lightning vulnerability. |
