I work as a financial analyst for a large utility company. Ya, I'm a numbers geek for sure. In my spare time I play dodgeball, roleplaying games, and tend to hang out with the lil' miss and/or my friend group.

I play D&D 4E and love it. I'm a powergamer by default but I have been trying to force myself into following themes for my characters. So far I've created two characters that I'm quite fond of with one being a Barbarian/Fighter and the other being a Psion/Swordmage.

comment Do large creatures provoke Opportunity Attacks when moving if some part of them still occupies the threatened square?
Rule of thumb for my group. If a large creature enters a threatened square and then continues moving into a 2nd threatened square, the player gets an attack of opportunity.

comment What happens when a nemesis god is responsible for resurrecting your character?
Although my logic just as easily apply to any god that represents the domain of the living, etc. the following are gods that represent the undeath domain. The Blood of Vol (Ebberon), The Undying Court (Ebberon), Shar (Forgotten Realms), Vecna (Core)

comment Does Manifestation of Wrath heal depending on the number of enemies hit or not?
Practically speaking how many enemies are ever adjacent to the cleric in a typical encounter? Two perhaps? At most three?

Keep in mind you're comparing a level 15 daily to a level 3 encounter power (where you're arguing the level 3 provides potentially more hps and the basically the same amount of damage)...

Did the troll enter two threatened squares of the striker? I can't see how he could enter only one square, be threatened, and then move his body and still continue to be in one of the threatened squares. If he entered two squares, by definition he would have had to leave one of them, granting the opportunity attack.

I'm inclined to agree with InbarRose.

comment How can I better show players that enemies are not friends?
I'd wager my group is the 'norm' where we pretty much attack anything that moves. Our last session is the first time that we ended up working with another group we came across and we've been playing for 15 levels. Funny thing is, by not killing them, I know it's going to make the next encounter that much more dynamic. Maybe use these situations to your advantage and have these npc's turn on them once a 2nd group or more of their allies arrive or something.

comment Is Sword's Vengeance a “win button”?
Thanks guys. You've essentially answered my question of you will "win" the encounter, though you may die on the next one.

I just read the full definition of eldritch fusillade expertise that says that "you can also draw or stow a wand once per round as a free action on your turn, and you can load a crossbow as a free action". The on your turn part makes the above unachievable.

Thanks. I just wanted confirmation as I was arguing the above, but my DM thought otherwise.

comment Why doesn't Immobilized grant Combat Advantage?
Additionally, an immobilized character is limited to his or her square. Recall that a square in 'real world' terms is 5 feet by 5 feet. This still gives you a fair amount of space to actively defend yourself.

comment Can a dragonborn sorcerer designed to recharge her breath choose to fail a save against ongoing damage?
@waxeagle On a similar line of reasoning, would it be possible to use a spell such as the at-will Lightning Strike for an even more effective combo. Aka, I would hit an enemy, target myself for the creature within 10 squares and take my dex modifier which would hopefully be worth 1 damage. This would avoid having to hit myself at all with the dragon breath provided everything was lightning based.

@Tony If it was errata'd in the Divine Power book, why does the Chosen Epic Path (in the Divine Power Handbook) have the same wording that matches the Demigod Path in the PHB?

This sounds drastically different than the wording of what is in the PHB. I don't have access to the compendium so has this had an errata done to it?

comment How does one keep track of all of the different statuses, conditions, and mathematically-entwined stats of FFRPG?
I am curious to know if you're comfortable with players using excel (i.e laptops) to track their characters as well as all of the temporary effects affecting them. I create all of my characters using an excel template I developed and as a consequence, I'm generally the one who tracks whatever for the GM. The spin off benefits are immediately noticeable as I never have to take more than a second to calculate my damage, to hit, buffs, debuffs, etc. and you can build in whatever temporary modifiers you need to. While I've only made templates for my D&D characters, you're more than welcome to them

Thanks that cleared up the debate in my head about summoned creatures.

comment How do attack penalties stack?
I'm planning on accepting your answer, but before I do I just want to confirm that my phantasmal killer attacking gets the -2 to hit from my psychic lock as you said "...it has the same effect as my dishearten above". This is important to my build as I'm thinking of taking a power "oni gift" that will weaken me but I'm hoping it won't affect my summoned creature's attack. So ultimately I just want clarification that my psychic lock feat will affect only me, or if it will include my summons (as I assume oni's gift would have the same rules apply).

comment Max distance a character can move while slowed factoring in anything
I don't have the compendium. Does this match what is in the phb page 277. That definition said the following: "Your speed becomes 2. This speed applies to all your movement modes, but it does not apply to teleportation or to a pull, a push, or a slide. You can’t increase your speed above 2, and your speed doesn’t increase if it was lower than 2. If you’re slowed while moving, stop moving if you have already moved 2 or more squares." It was the last part of this definition about stop moving that I was wondering about.

comment Intimidation in D&D 4e - What can it be used for and what are the consequences for doing so?
I thought that it addressed the question in King's original post of what is intimidate useful for. I was merely highlighting that each skill comes with the potential of several additional utility powers to choose from when leveling your character. @Oblivious Sage
