comment How to create a D&D 3.5 player character race for Poison Elves
According to the Ability Score Equivalencies table on page 173 of the DMG, +2 STR can be balanced by either: "Dexterity OR Constitution OR Intelligence and Charisma OR Intelligence and Wisdom OR Wisdom and Charisma" At the moment I'm leaning towards +2 DEX, -2 WIS, -2 CHA as the stat modifiers. The other option would be to balance +2 DEX with -2 STR, but I don't think that matches the concept as well.

my acknowledgements go to John McKnight & Kwi Kim, who introduced elf (poison) as a player character race for 2nd edition D&D, back in the summer of 1995. red-dragon-inn.net/gaming/library/books/tombofthedamned.pdf

comment Where can I find a horror adventure/campaign writing guide?
I had a feeling it might be. There's really no other book like it (except perhaps for GURPS Horror 3ed, which was also written by Ken Hite...)

The book that you are talking about sounds a lot like "Nightmares of Mine" by Ken Hite, although that isn't a Ravenloft book at all. ISBN: 1-55806-367-6

How old is old? Ravenloft was first published in 1983. Do you remember roughly how long ago it was that you read it? There was a Ravenloft Dungeon Master's Guide for D20 published by White Wolf, which is still available as a PDF:

comment As a GM, how do I keep Dungeons & Dragons more interesting for young players?
Don't count on having an extended campaign, from 1st until 10th level or something like that. In my experience, you'll have a few false starts before you find something that they keep coming back to. 5 room dungeons (roleplayingtips.com/articles/5_room_dungeons.html) are a great idea for distilling D&D down to "just the fun bits"

comment What is a good item vs Undead in D&D 3.5
It isn't exclusively useful for a rogue, since anyone who uses a melee weapon (including a paladin) could benefit from having such an item. However, it is clearly more useful for a character who has the sneak attack / skirmish / sudden strike class feature. Although it can only be used 3 times/day, it can alleviate some of the frustration of playing that style of character in a campaign where most of the monsters are immune to your most powerful attack.
