comment Has “write in to impact the metaplot” been tried since the 90s?
@Adeptus I admit that I haven't played in either extensively, but it was my understanding that there wasn't any reporting about the outcome of the adventure, like "did the majority of gaming tables kill the lich or let him get away" (with the outcome of that answer influencing how later adventures would be written), which is what Torg and Deadlands did. I added a more specific example of what was done in Deadlands to the question.

comment Mundane Saving Throws
There is a similar question Why is there a saving throw for each ability score?, but the answers describe magical uses for Intelligence and Charisma saving throws (resisting psionics and possession respectively).

comment Are attributes ever rolled?
The Situational Rules chapter has many other uses for these attributes as well, such as foot chases (Agility), making Fear checks (Spirit), resisting harmful environmental effects (Vigor), resisting diseases and poisons (Vigor), and limiting falling damage (Agility).

comment Character build for Gandalf in D&D3.5?
+1 for "Gandalf is not a D&D character". Gandalf's magic works quite differently than a D&D wizard's magic and so he cannot be represented as one.
