Nothing interesting about me. This is not the user you are looking for. Move along. Move along.

comment How can I make my carrying mission interesting
@Dakeyras: Maybe but you can still use it! It is a cuddly cute lost tiger kitten and its mom is looking for it. And they're intelligent tigers. :-)

comment How to deal with a Batman PC as a DM?
I just have to ask if his ranger animal companion is a bat or swarm of bats? This could easily lead to villagers calling him "the bat man." :-)

comment How common is Detect Evil in the Forgotten Realms? Roleplaying VS Game Mechanic
And Good and Evil is a bit simplistic anyway. I read the online log of a campaign that was quite interesting: there was an order of Paladins that worked for an empire who often performed oppressive acts, putting down peasant rebellions and such. It was better, more Good, for there to be Law and Order even if evil barons occasionally took advantage, you see. And of course the view of Good from neighbors of this empire was often quite different. Likewise there may be very good reasons for an Evil character to join a quest. Money or power are good ones. And it is actually quite easy for Paladins

comment Flaws that aren't flaws
Although in GURPS, the character may still get partial points for a disadvantage that is mitigated by hardware. For example, near-sighted is mitigated by eyeglasses or contacts, but those can be lost or not being worn during a surprise night attack, so it is still worth -5 points instead of -10.

comment Difference between Heavy/Light Crossbows and Long/Short Bows
@SevenSidedDie: I am not sure what you are imagining, but it does not match what I am imagining. What torque? How would it be off center? You hold the bow in the left hand and crank it with the right. The crank is easy to turn because of gears.

comment Difference between Heavy/Light Crossbows and Long/Short Bows
@SevenSidedDie: It is that simple. A crank, a chain, gears. That doesn't mean it is a good idea. A crossbow that takes 20 seconds to wind up while short-bow archers are shooting at you is probably not a good weapon.

comment Difference between Heavy/Light Crossbows and Long/Short Bows
@TimLymington: You could have a heavy crossbow that used a single hand crank which could be reloaded on horseback. Such a thing should probably take even longer to reload than a regular heavy crossbow. It is a straight-forward distance vs. force leverage tradeoff.

comment What counts as a critical on defense?
By the way, this rule is really unfair to the attacker: he's got a doubled chance of critical failure.

comment Finding alternatives to rogues in campaigns
It isn't an answer, so just a comment: It sounds like another rogue would fit right in. The party would be all rogues. A rogue's gallery. :-) Why not? Rogues can specialize enough to fill a lot of different class roles: even magic and healing with Use Magic Device.

@SevenSidedDie: I agree, your comment would be a great answer and you should post it.

comment How do I make a dungeon the party will not know they are getting lost in?
@Brian: I just had a cool idea for opening routes. Somebody had to make the dungeon originally right? Maybe the party finds an abandoned dwarven mining engine at the end of an unfinished tunnel. With some skill checks they get it working again...

comment How can I pass through a Blade Barrier?
I don't agree with the sheet. I'm not sure I agree about the bathtub. Consider: Blade Barrier can damage a fighter through his plate mail armor. Is a bathtub thicker than platemail? If so, why not build armor out of bathtubs? Etc.
