Dr. Brian Ballsun-Stanton is a Philosopher, Information Technologist, and Game Theorist exploring the Philosophy of Data. He has a Ph.D in Philosophy from The University of New South Wales in addition to a MS & BS in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

He has developed a new methodology (The Social Data Flow Network) to explore how individuals in the field understand the nature of data. Currently, his research is exploring the social construction of technology, focusing on the user-driven change of technological tools, in addition to his research of data warehouse ETL strategies for disparate data sets.

Beyond philosophy, Dr. Ballsun-Stanton has experience in haptic research, specifically the use of gesture control of human computer interfaces and an abiding interest in robotics as seen in his flying robotic cable-array manta-ray.

His interests include the academic study of Role-Playing games, the exploration of how science fiction literature transforms reality, and the social consequences of a technological world outpacing society's cultural assimilation of its consequences.

He is a long time gamer, having helped to design the indie game Pax Draconis. He has been running an Ars Magica game for the last 6 years and has extensive experience with indie games and both 3.5 and 4e D&D.

Please cool it on the comments. They are not for extended discussion or arguments. Post your answer, improve your answer, or not, based on comments. Spend your effort on constructive contribution, not on ephemeral things that will be deleted quickly.

comment Why all the dice?
This seems like a better question for statistics, as they can answer the statistical differences between dice rolling systems. Here it seems entirely too opinion-based.

We need to know intended level, the rest of your party, and how much of your "striker oriented" damage you're willing to do yourself, as well as any disallowed resources.

And again, closed because it is insufficiently different. The question must be edited to stand alone, and not attract answers that would serve in either.

An edit on the above lines will be necessary for this not to be reclosed as dupe. Showing one's research of the history of similar questions is useful.

comment How do I make random adventures relevant to player motivations in a Sandbox Hexcrawl Campaign?
Are you sure this question is tagged correctly? A "low heroic" to "low epic" post-apoc game with paladins.... doesn't seem like a) something the starter set supports easily, and b) tempts the situation outlined in: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/44835/…

comment Longtooth Shifting as a daily power
Yeah, it's more the argument that "if you reach bloodied in 2 rounds, will regen do you any good?" It also feels like a part of this is "not asking the right question" as my intuition suggests that the party is mis-built...

You ask about "low levels" and "epic". Do you mean low spell levels? What do you mean by core, SRD? Is this character concept intended to be playable? How many levels of "after the wizard" do we have to work with?
