You can't do that! It's contrary to the specific levels of immersion and simulationism that I like!

comment What happens when you step off the battle map?
@kravaros It's no more absurd than spontaneously learning a new ability after killing your hundredth orc. Or "you cannot be removed from the story if you don't pull." Or anything dealing with hit points, health levels, etc. Almost everyone here draws the line between "game" and "simulation of realistic encounters" somewhere. Almost everyone draws it somewhere different. Getting upset that someone might be RPGing wrong is silly.

@IssamTP As a Lion, you always have the option to make two claw attacks and one bite attack regardless of your BAB. I'll revise the example so it doesn't overlap like that.

comment Can I play a Witch (the class) who is male and call him a Warlock?
@SevenSidedDie No thank you. I feel that overcomplicates the statement. If they aren't playing that way, such a question wouldn't be asked, and the other examples cover that base. If they are playing that way (and again, this is very common in my experience), then it works as written.

@SevenSidedDie By games I wasn't referring to system. My apologies for being unclear. I meant specific groups at specific tables. My experience has been that almost every group I've played in has, at some point, had one character (player or NPC) ask another character what class they were at some time or another. Sometimes it's clumsy and beating around the bush, and sometimes it's direct. It isn't simulationist, but it is true to the rules established by the game world.

@SevenSidedDie If I am a computer programmer, someone asks me what I am, and I say "Male Model," that's pretty clearly a lie. If I'm a wizard, and I say "Fighter" (with Fighter implying something like the Fighter class), that's pretty clearly a lie. If a "Witch" is a thing in the game world, you are that thing, and you deny it, then that's a lie (unless the DM says that Witch and Warlock are synonymous in his world). Many, many, games include the concept of classes-as-careers that characters are aware of.
