comment Should a dedicated sword-and-boarder use their on or off hand for their shield?
As far as I know, historically, the shield was carried on the left arm. That's also why many castles have a right-wise turning path leading up to them...the right side carrying the sword would be exposes to the defendants.

revised What essentials do I need on the site of my LARP?
Removed noise, no need to tell us about you. Also, offsite-communication is partly discouraged, as is leaving your e-mail address (spam).

comment What's the best practice for an Indie-LARP?
Also, as Sardathrion said, I'd like to ssee this splitted into different questions, as the last two questions are very good and would spawn awesome answers.

Indie-LARP? Seriously? In Germany and Austria there are no LARPs which are not mastered/hosted by private persons (well, except Mythodea maybe, there are at least partly backed by Epic Armoury Germany). Maybe that's different for the U.K., otherwise I'd say that "Indie" is not appropriate.

comment Any tips for two-weapon training in LARP?
The problem with most Martial Arts is that they're not suitable for LARP. They include either dogfight-techniques (which only can be used at a bare minimum and after agreeing on it) or techniques which go outside of the hit-area (head etc.) or stabbing. Though, I'd still recommend to do any kind of Martial Arts, it will improve your reflexes and muscles and will also help you with the basics (stand and battle stance f.e.). LARP battle is quiet different from real battle and hast mostly safety and cinematic effects in mind. I'd keep it at that.

comment How can I use lights at night without breaking immersion?
@Pureferret: Ops, sorry, outtime and intime. Though, now that you mention it I don't know if those are generic terms known everywhere.

comment “Phys-repping” a large creature at a LARP?
Yes, I also was part of such a monster once, it was real fun and the players were really impressed. It was basically just a wooden frame with clothes all over it, and I'm still very impressed by the people who built it.
