Don't be too scared if the players come up with something totally different then what you planned. Sometimes this can turn out to be something really awesome and fun! Play along with them and sometimes they can come up with something that probably was a better idea and they feel acomplished for working out such plans!

comment As a DM, how can I integrate a commerce aspect to D&D?
I totally need to steal that idea of carving your face into a mountain to taunt a city, that is rather awesome XD I am curious how much are you saying that'll cost them?

comment What striker builds let you play a secondary defender role?
I currently play an ardent pally in one campaign. Damage can be quite surprising with ardent vow, divine strength and holy strike combined. Divine Power gives access to a lot of extra hard hitting abilities. Grab a d12 weapon and start swinging! Only problem is the need to keep your wisdom high to use ardent vow often enough to be effective and damaging and wisdom doesn't help many other abilities. Once you hit paragon tier there are feats and paths that can make this problem go away though allowing you to practically use it twice a fight.

Indeed, there is nothing wrong with a good monster bash ;) I did throw in a few traps in one encounter and did seem to pose a bit more danger to one character. I'll look into more traps and terrain effects and see if I can't get that effect on more of them to keep them on their toes

"If your defenses are much higher than the rest of the party then the monsters will be justified in ignoring your mark to hit the rest of the party." Actually, as a Champion of Order, I'm hoping they don't attack me ;) Free attack AND retributive damage! Regardless if it's harder to hit me, I hope they think twice just cause of all the damage

Hmm since moving up in levels I think our DMs (myself during a random few times included) seemed to have missed those extra base armors. I'll make a case to our normal DM about getting a boosted base armor, which at this point should include our other members as well. Thanks!

Original question was a bit to broad. Changed to be about defender specifically.

Also I was afraid my question might be a little to broad. Was hoping to gather some info for all roles but that's a bit much. I'll change it to be a little more direct in asking for defender info.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to I could get my AC equivalent to the equation. At level 13 I'm at an AC of 28 (no shield). This includes plate +3 (so that's +11 AC) plus the plate specialization feat. I'll no doubt soon get a +4 plate armor but this puts me at max of 29 (6 for level + 12 for AC + 10 base + 1 for feat) when according to the equation should be 31 and I don't see any other way to boost my AC. Am I missing some cool feats or abilities?
