How do you help players not focus on the rules? @ExTSR, yes I clearly say exactly that. It's a turnoff for some players and I don't miss them. They probably wouldn't like my style of game anyway. |

Which role-playing systems might be best suited for use over a road-trip? @aramis, I disagree. I wouldn't suggest everyone roll dice. But if you have a designated roller he can keep control of them somewhere. Or you can roll one at a time (4-5 dice is few enough that that's reasonable). Or buy toys at the quarter machine, throw at the toy, put dice in egg, and make a Pop-o-matic bubble like my GURPS GM did. Or let the person with the iPhone download an app. |

Game design question. What sort of effect does HP as a resource have on a system? There are different willpower pools for each stat. Different attacks target different stats. I'm hoping that combat will be about prodding your enemy until you can figure out where you have the better stat, but that will really depend on making sure the attack options are balanced with respect to each other. The other restriction is that a characters skill limits how many will points can be spent on any one check. I think it'll be interesting to see how someone with more points goes up against someone who can burn points quicker. |
