Clarification on 4e Raise Dead's 'part of the corpse' "That implies that the entire sum of the physical construct of the creature, collectively, is 'the corpse', and any portion of that physical construct, therefore, is a portion of the corpse." I'm not sure I agree with the implication. I think it implies that any part that is killed becomes the corpse. ie, if the character is blown to bits in an explosion, any bits the other PCs find is part of the corpse. But it doesn't imply (to me) that previously removed parts gain corpse status when the rest of the body expires. |

Clarification on 4e Raise Dead's 'part of the corpse' This is closer to my interpretation, although I didn't use the soul explanation. A toe removed last week was never a part of the corpse of a man who died today. OTOH, if a man is beheaded I'd argue that head and body were part of the corpse, even if one part remained vital longer than the other. Maybe both parts are only part of the corpse if the separation of parts led to death? |

Clarification on 4e Raise Dead's 'part of the corpse' Hair and nails is a stretch, but if a PC were to give up a couple fingers (and not grow them back) I might let them get away with it. |

Where would Teleportation Circles be in Forgotten Realms? The tag says this is 4th ed. I was under the impression that many of the old portals were no longer working and replacements had not been set up. Is that not the case? |

How do I catch a Player Character up to the rest of the group after returning from an extended hiatus? I see a couple options. If it's only a few levels, count how much loot has been given to the party and create an extra share of that. If it's many levels, treat him as a new character and give him an item at level+1, level, and level-1. For somewhere in between, I'd see what level the group's weapon armor and neck slot items were and give him comparable items. |

How can you create a well-rounded four character party that is trained in most skills? What I like about this answer is it consolidates the ritual related skills in the hands of one character. In one of my games we have 3 different PCs with ritual caster because each of us wanted just one of the skills. Probably not the best decision on our part. |

Game design question. What sort of effect does HP as a resource have on a system? I was unfamiliar with death spiral as a term, though I've definitely seen it as a flaw in a few other games (namely Shadowrun). I think I can avoid it with this system though. There are actually different willpower pools for each stat. What I was thinking for damage was that the character receiving damage would be able to choose which pools to use when spending willpower. So the warrior might spend all of his intelligence willpower, but still have strength willpower left for his next turn. Whether that leaves him playable or out will depend on how I tweak the numbers, I think. |

Game design question. What sort of effect does HP as a resource have on a system? All of them. I'm sorry I wasn't able to narrow it down into one set, but I really just want to hear everything about the topic I can. |
