What free software can I use for laying out my own RPG? @Mnementh As long as you're not doing too much layout work, LaTeX is probably fine so long as you have a decent cheat sheet in front of you. I'm working on an RPG in LaTeX. After the header (which I copied from a template), I've used \chapter, \section, \newpage, \begin{description}, \item, \emph, and \end. As long as the LaTeX environment is already installed, you should be fine. |

What's the easiest way to adjust a module intended for 5 players so that it can accommodate 6 players? Incidentally, are you using the Monster Manual 3 damage update? I found fights were too easy until I started applying it. With it, I can stick strictly to the budget and expect a good fight that knocks someone unconscious, but doesn't kill anyone. |

Can Aid Another assist someone else, who is also using Aid Another? @Jadasc, one circumstance where this might be useful is if the GM is limiting how many people can aid one particular check. I don't know if it's RAW or not but I've seen several skill checks where the GM says only 1 person can assist. In this case it would make sense for the other players to assist the assist, but whether or not that's an option depends on the circumstances for why there was only one assistant to begin with. |

What about character death should be included in a social contract? To expand on the consent question, the social contract should also answer what happens to PCs when their player misses a session. Many GMs I know will NPC a character when the player doesn't show up, but that character can't be killed in those situations. |

How can I make monster knowledge checks fun? Were I to use this in 4th ed, I'd definitely retain veto rights. It's meant to encourage collaborative storytelling, not to gain advantage in fights. I'd still like to see how it works in 4e, but I can only speculate about whether it will be worthwhile or not. |

How can I encourage a style of play where enhancing others' fun is the most important goal? @mxyzplk I never said that competition isn't fun. I said that it leads to selfish play. |

What is a good combat tracker for D&D 4th Edition? Poker chips would stack just as well. It might be easier to cut those down to size than to make your own notches. |
