What is the normal “pace” for a 4E session/campaign? For what it's worth, a fast pace of advancement within a campaign can lead to two problems: 1) it makes it hard for the DM to plan ahead, since characters may be way beyond a planned challenge by the time they get to it, and 2) it can create cognitive dissonance, because serious NPC threats you met "yesterday" become way beneath you. It's a bit weird to go from from fighting rats to fighting demigods in under a month of in-game time. |

Overpowered PCs (Gabe's Dilemma) I'm curious as to why you say the DM needs to find a way to keep the campaign going. |

Would free multiclass feats be a reasonable alternative to Themes? For an individual game, the restriction could simply be "subject to DM's approval for balance and fairness"; that wouldn't be very satisfying as a general rule, of course. |

Would free multiclass feats be a reasonable alternative to Themes? So, would a fair summary of your answer be "A potential pitfall is that the less-restricted options allowed by the multiclass feats could lead to abuse. Some further restriction would be needed for this to be a balanced option." ? |

Would free multiclass feats be a reasonable alternative to Themes? Thanks. Are there utility powers you are worried about? One option might be to say that you can't take the other (encounter, daily) power-swap feats without also using a feat slot for a second "basic" multiclassing feat of the same class. And then I'd give skill bonuses instead of feats at 5 and 10. |

Would free multiclass feats be a reasonable alternative to Themes? Hmmm. Definitely interesting, but that seems more about replacing the multiclassing system with something more like (but somewhat different from) Themes. While there's some overlap, I'm really concerned more with the opposite — using the multiclassing system as-is to create new themes (without actually going through the work of making custom character options). |

I'm at a loss with “Dungeons and Dragons.” How does one play it, anyway? This wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/whatisdnd might help, although it is somewhat specific to the current, in-print edition. |

When do you reach a 'milestone'? Why "fix" your encounter difficulties? Not all encounters should be te same level of challenge, and it's reasonable for the milestone rules to acknowledge that. |
