A qualified chemist who somehow drifted into web development. I've learned (to a greater or lesser degree of accuracy) PHP and JavaScript, and would like to learn something completely different for the sake of it. I'm a weirdo who actually enjoys reading (and sometimes writing) technical documentation.

comment How can you encourage players to role play in line with their culture?
Well, Pratchett's dwarfs are quite clearly Welsh, look you. (At least, the ones from Copperhead are. And the low king of the dwarfs, who's from Copperhead, is even called Rhys.)

comment As a GM, what minimal geographic knowledge should I have to make realistic maps?
Don't put the Great Nef desert between the sea and a mountain range (this is from a comment by Terry Pratchett in the little book that comes with the Discworld Mappe).

comment Flat or flattish earth issues
Pratchett actually invested some time in the first book in practical worldbuilding, before deciding that sociocultural worldbuilding was more important for his purposes in later books.

comment What do “Shadowfell” and “Underdark” mean?
@Adriano Varoli Piazza's comment on @Cthos's answer suggests that your explanation of fell is correct.
