The first is that being turned to dust kills the troll; thus the troll is immune. The second is that being turned to dust does not kill the troll, but the troll is dead once it is dust. The third is that the troll remains a pile-of-dust troll; and being reduced to a pile of dust kills almost anything. Except trolls.

Oct 1, 2018 at 18:31 | comment | added | Yakk | @SeraphsWrath The troll isn't dead. There is only one way for a troll to be dead, and being turned to dust doesn't do it. Imagine if it was called "tenderize", and instead of "gray dust" it said "a pile of ground up meat suitable for making hambugers". Being turned into ground up meat kills almost anything, but not a Troll; the Troll no longer has arms, legs, a body, organs, etc, but remains alive. Similarly for the dust. The clause "only restored to life" only applies if the troll died, and as disintegrate into fine dust doesn't kill a troll, the troll did not die.
