Does it taste okay to you?" That way the player thinks you're doing a check against food poisoning etc.

Another user reminded me, though, that I as the DM can always just roll in secret for the players, which I got so used to not having to do that I kiiiinda forgot was an option. XD

Jan 20, 2019 at 18:42 | comment | added | 3C273 | What kind of rolls do you think they'll have to do? Will she try to magically coerce them (beyond what you described in the question)? Or are you thinking of things closer to her "rolling diplomacy" against the PCs? I ask this because it's easier to explain that she "just has a passive magical compulsion effect" than hiding casting mind affecting specifically at the PC

For instance, the daughter comes to one of the PCs and says "I know you'll support my ambitions, but my mother thinks you'll side with sinister Duke X. Please forgive her if she goes too far trying to persuade you!"
Jan 20, 2019 at 14:14 | comment | added | Sora Tamashii | Hmm... Have her alleviate suspicion by having her be up-front about wanting something different from what she actually wants would be a good idea. It makes sense and feels kind of obvious when you say it out loud. xD My issue is, though, that I'm concerned my players might see through it when they inevitably have to do certain rolls around her due to her skills, such as her Charm. If you can include something that can specifically alleviate that, I think your answer would be even better. Either way, +1.
