One way you could look at it is as a Help action that can be separated in time from the action it's helping and can be used even if the helper isn't normally capable of helping with the action. That seems like a reasonably marginal benefit for the opportunity cost of picking a cantrip. | |

(This isn't always possible, e.g. caster isn't stealthing in somewhere with the target, or is going to sleep.) | |
