My character had a "probably going to die" situation when there was necromantic magic chaining a sacred tree so an evil cross-dimensional Hag could come back into the the world. The storm was growing in intensity... The magic was substantially above our power level -- so I called on the old gods before pulling out my draw knife and carving the runes off while casting "Eldritch Blast" through the tool that kept me fed as a teenager. If the roll hadn't succeeded, my character would have had a glorious death. The tool is now a talisman. | |
