Feb 17, 2023 at 15:52 comment added candied_orange @Eddymage used to be the main reason people played fighters was because they were simple. Then along comes feats and suddenly they're as complicated as wizards.
Feb 17, 2023 at 15:06 comment added Eddymage @candied_orange No: but that's not the point of the question, nor the player is feeling weaker than the rest of the party: she just wants to be a full sorcerer and remove all the cleric levels. It sounds bizarre to me that the main reason for avoiding multiclass PCs was/is the complicated sheet...
Feb 16, 2023 at 22:11 comment added candied_orange Is multiclassing really so nerfed now that a dual class PC with the same XP as the rest of the party is left behind? I remember when the big reason to not multiclass was because it made your sheet complicated.
Feb 16, 2023 at 13:56 comment added Rad80 Backtracking is misleading. I would call it backtracking if they were wanting to get rid of the sorcerer levels to go back to full cleric. This is more like doubling down on the multiclassing than taking it back.

Feb 15, 2023 at 7:05 comment added Eddymage @FerventHippo There are no rules that explain when or how to do that, in the PHB nor in the optional material, to the best of my knowledge. There is the rule 0, which gives full power to the DM and allows them to change any rule they want.

Spelling fix.
Feb 15, 2023 at 0:46 comment added ShadowRanger @Trish: I love that movie, but it's such a dick move by the DM. Someone who wants to play a sorcerer, being involuntarily changed to cleric, a class for which they've almost certainly got terrible stats (because who pumps Wisdom on a Sorcerer?). The DM gets to "tell a good story", but only because we never see that hilariously useless new cleric ever have to function in a game again.
Feb 14, 2023 at 23:58 comment added FerventHippo Can you quote the rules saying that converting levels in one class to another is not permitted?
