That's a common and important enough tool proficiency to be worth mentioning specifically. Or is that only a house-rule that lock-picking can only be attempted if one has proficiency? roll20.net/compendium/dnd5e/Thieves'%20Tools phrases it as "letting you add your proficiency", no mention of being able to make the check at all. | |
