Feb 18, 2015 at 18:34 comment added Escoce No there are no advantages to "number of slots". Sure you get a paladin who can cast divine smite over and over, however he still has the same number of slots as a level 20 wizard. That's not what I was mentioning though, I was simply talking about the number of slots available. Don't forget you have to spend 3 levels of paladin just to get one more slot, and if your character level is already 17, that's awefully expensive.
Feb 17, 2015 at 21:49 comment added Alexis Wilke No advantage? First of all, the Divine Smite can be used 15 times by a Paladin level 20. Assuming multiclass with Paladin 3/Sorcerer 10/Warlock 7, he will have 11 levels of spell you have 16 slots now. One being level 6 which is not otherwise available to Paladins. Is he to have more levels as a sorcerer and less as a warlock/paladin, he can have even more slots for divine smite.... Although it is limited to 5d8 damage, that's quite a nice feature if you have use 16+ times per day.
