The Tomb of Annihilation campaign season introduces the island of Chult which is populated by dinosaurs that the inhabitants regularly ride and Al’miraj which run wild and are referred in the MM as potential familiars for wizards. Adventurers League generally restricts the frequency and commonality of the magic items that are distributed in adventures. Additionally, AL has opportunities for writing CCC Convention Adventures that become AL official. The challenge is how does one write a CCC Adventure that is AL legal that involves distributing trained mounts or exotic pets (as one sees traded in Fai Chen’s Fantastic Faire.) What if an AL DM wanted to award players or allow them to purchase trained mounts like warhorses, uncommon beasts like rhinoceri, more exotic beasts like dinosaurs, or even creatures like hippogriffs, pegasi or unicorns, or if a DM wanted to award exotic, pet-like creatures such as Al’miraj or pseudodragons? Though these creatures don’t appear to count as permanent magical items, certainly some creature allies could be just as powerful as one. What are the AL Tier guidelines around awarding or selling creatures as treasure? For example, has Fai Chen’s Fantastic Faire listed the trade values (i.e. uncommon, rare etc.) of particular beasts? (We checked the various seasons' Adventure League DM documents and didn’t see anything — that’s what prompted the question.)
