[Spiritual Weapon][1] which says "When you cast the spell, you can make a melee spell attack..." there is the option to make an attack or not so going by the wording of [Spell Sniper][2] it **shouldn't be affected by spell sniper** because you are not "required to make an attack roll"

[Bigby's Hand][3] (Payer's handbook 218) this one also includes "you can" but beyond that has multiple options that don't include a spell attack at all so **bigby's hand shouldn't be affected by spell sniper** either and even if the wording of "you can make an attack" doesn't do it, the extra options that don't include attacks should still disclude this from spell sniper.

[Mordenkainen's Sword][4] is the spell that I was looking at that made me ask this question. unlike the other two it says "When the sword appears, you make a mele spell attack against a target of your choice within 5 feet of the sword." So based off the wording you have to make an attack against a target. Is that enough to satisfy the requirement of spell sniper, if yes then we have more questions that need answering. Is the range of casting the sword (60ft) doubled or is the range of the attack doubled (5ft) or both. This is why I posed this question, it gets complicated to hash it out and determine exactly what happens especially when the following attacks are the same as the original one upon summoning the sword. I think that this is **not intended for the spell to be affected by spell sniper in any way** but for personal rulings I think giving the (5ft) attack a (10ft) attack with spell sniper is great. Especially when you consider that the bonus action attacks just "repeat this attack" meaning it will keep the extra 5ft for following attacks.
