Pathfinder Second Edition is the successor to the Pathfinder RPG on which it is based, and was released on August 1, 2019. Use this tag for questions specific to Pathfinder Second Edition.

Pathfinder 2e is a revised version of the original Pathfinder (a rebranded derivative of the d20 SRD (v3.5), which are the open licensed rules to Dungeons & Dragons v3.5.)

Pathfinder was created by Paizo Publishing, the company that was producing Dungeon Magazine and Dragon Magazine for Wizards of the Coast during the 3e/3.5e years.

Pathfinder 2nd Edition marks the first major revision of the Pathfinder rules system since the original release in 2009, and is initially available with 4 rule/environment books, and two adventure modules:

  • Core Rulebook (P2)
  • Bestiary (P2)
  • Lost Omens World Guide
  • Lost Omens Player Guide
  • Age of Ashes (Adventure Path module)
  • Fall of Plaguestone (Adventure module)

Further books (Such as the Gamemastery Guide) have been published in 2020 and beyond.
