I've been playing tabletop RPGs for perhaps 8 years at this point, and just finally wading into the wonderful world of GMing. I tend to prefer systems that are cinematic, collaborative, or brutally simulationist, as opposed to more "gamist" systems such as d20.
I'm a big fan of pulpy retro-scifi (like Star Wars), "historical" settings with a fantasy twist (Sundered Skies), or my personal favorite--settings with magic that are limited and interesting, ala Brandon Sanderson's works.
