@Miniman I was a bit on the fence regarding this so I restrained myself to just leaving a comment. It's certainly not a flagrant non-answer but I think it could be a lot more direct as it reads more like a meandering discussion of options than a recommended course of action. There are lots of 'If's, 'Can's and 'Depending on's which may be guilty of nothing more than rubbing me the wrong way. Either way my involvement ends here, directing a new user towards the tour and help center was my main purpose in leaving the comment.
Hi and welcome to Stack Exchange. Your answer reads a lot like a continuation of a discussion, rather than a direct answer to the question being asked. I'd recommend taking the tour and possibly checking out the help center if you have further queries about how this site works.
@KorvinStarmast I asked this question months ago, while Game-Rec questions were still considered on-topic for the site. Having read the meta post about the change to this I thought the stance was that all game-rec questions were getting a historical lock and being left at that? That said, I didn't get any useful answers so it wouldn't be a big loss for the site even if it was deleted.
Have you been playing this as a GM with a singular, dedicated PC? How has this worked out for you? Putting NPCs under threat isn't really (I feel) the same thing as having a character who is perceived as 'me' which is more what I was looking for. You also mention that having characters with emotional baggage and inter-PC conflict is discouraged. Frankly this means that I doubt the system meets my needs as neither myself or my players want to have artificially-imposed party cohesion in a setting where it just doesn't make sense.
@Cthos I'm not sure whether you're asking if this is possible or requesting that I do it. Either way I feel like that would be outside the scope of this particular question, nor do I have the experience with 4e to achieve either.
Is this class released for free? If so a link to the playbook and any related pages might help us deduce if the information is present. That said, welcome to RPG.SE!
Since this is a tool-recommendation question I can't really give "don't do your player's book-keeping" as an answer, so I'll just leave this as a comment. Book-keeping as a Dungeon World GM will just distract you from your actual role (as defined by your GM Principles, which are rules just like HP, Stats and Moves) so minimize as much as possible by letting your players do their own, they're only playing one character each, you're playing the entire world. Focus on the world, not the numbers, little mistakes in book-keeping are far less harmful than a slowed down story.
Just to play devil's advocate here, is there any reason you don't trust the players to keep track of their own Bonds, HP, Gold, XP and ammo? I've never felt the need for any bookkeeping of the player's stats at all in either DW or AW.
