It seems to point in the opposite direction, because it reads: "If damage reduces the zombie to 0 hit points" which suggests there might be other ways to drop 0 hp (like dying? I'm not sure what else would cause it) | |

"A creature that has died" could be an object as well. A corpse is an object. The spell description only says you can touch it. | |
