Mar 16, 2018 at 11:05 comment added Dave Sherohman Agreed that combat encounters shouldn't be a solution to every problem, but actions should also have consequences. If you're having a noisy argument in the middle of a monster-infested dungeon, then you can logically expect that some of those monsters will come to see what all the noise is. If you're doing it in a private room at the inn, on the other hand, then there's no problem and no reason for enemies to appear.
