But reducing the damage to no more than a d8 prevents those strategies for those who are concerned. | |

Disadvantage has precedent from heavy weapons, as noted in the original answer. Reduced damage has precedent from versatile weapons. I would recommend against the options for simplicity's sake, but they are just presented as options. | |
