I am playing a Beast Master ranger with a stirge animal companion.

I know that once stirgea stirge is attached to an enemy, it doesn't need to use its action or anything the skill'sanything; Blood Drain's damage is passive/automatic, with no action required.

If it attaches to the back of an enemy, does that count as flanking (per the optional rule from the DMG) while itsit's attached?

I know that once stirgea stirge is attached, it doesn't need to use its action or anythinganything; the skill's damage is passive. Can the stirge then use the help action on its turn while attached? It seems that it can use the passive dodge if no action is given.
