Jun 5, 2019 at 13:56 comment added NotArch I don't think you can use the reaction to move away at the start of the attack. [Generally triggers happen after the action has finished](rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/92023/… (after the attack). As for the OA...there is none, the illusion isn't a creature - which would also tip off the fighter that this isn't real. "Oh, i didn't get to swipe, it must not be real."
Jun 5, 2019 at 7:55 comment added Omlukain This can only be done as long as the illusion can get out of range to avoid the other attacks a fighter can make. As the questioner states the Fighter is engaging in "close quarters combat", it can be done in this case. Though if the Fighter did decide to start using ranged/thrown weapons it would cause this to fall apart immediately due to the increased range and number of attacks. Also the 'movement' is due to the caster pulling the strings, not the illusion's movement itself (which the illusion doesn't have to begin with). So an opportunity attack can't be triggered.
Jun 5, 2019 at 7:32 comment added linksassin Thanks for the clarification. So your ruling is that you can only do this as long as the fighter only has a single attack? What about the AoO triggered by the "movement", does that cause this to fail?
Jun 5, 2019 at 7:22 comment added Omlukain Thank you! When saying move or 'dodge' I am referring to the image being moved out of its square and beyond the reach (including unspent movement). Any additional attacks beyond the first would not be avoidable as the readied action would've been already used.

THis is a great first answer, good job including information about ways the caster could continue to control the illusion. One clarification; when you say "move" or "dodge" do you mean the illusion moves out of its square? Or simply avoids the attack as though it had a much higher AC? Thanks for participating and happy gaming!
